Onancock, Virginia is as charming as it is beautiful and as historic as it is welcoming. It is an idyllic small town with all of the trappings of the traditional suburban village. Founded in 1680, Onancock is a deep-water port that offers safe harbor to boaters. Once they head inland, the fun really begins with eight blocks =of boutiques, stores, and galleries as well as historic buildings and churches. There are also a wide variety of dining options. Just outside of town, there are miles of rural farmland, beaches, and wetlands and other natural wonders to explore.  The warm weather months are ideal for time spent adventuring, getting exercise and learning about local wildlife.

If you are a history buff then you will have to check out the Onancock Historic District. It is a national historic district encompassing 267 buildings, 2 contributing sites, and 2 contributing objects. It includes the majority of the historic residential, business, and church buildings in the town because so much of this lovely little community is historic and fascinating. The buildings represent a variety of architectural styles.
