About Nassawadox, VA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Nassawadox, VA is located in Northampton County on the Eastern Shore. It is a small town and its name is derived from a Native American word meaning “land between two waters.” The town has the Atlantic on its eastern side and the Chesapeake Bay on the west.  The eastern side is thusly called the seaside area and the west is referred to as the bayside area of town. The town is historical, beautiful, welcoming and fun with seasonal weather and friendly locals. It is a popular vacation spot for tourists. Local towns like Chincoteague, Bloxom, Parksley and more are all very well-known, as well.

If the local history and tradition fascinate you then you will want to check out Northampton Lumber Company Historic District. It is a historic sawmill and building supply store compound encompassing seven contributing buildings and three contributing structures:

  • retail store (c. 1887)
  • water tower (c. 1887)
  • sawmill (c. 1887)
  • potato she &  barn (c. 1912)
  • two sets of New York, Pennsylvania, & Norfolk Railroad tracks

Walking around the district is the perfect way to spend the day in the warmer seasons. Take a stroll down memory lane.

Local natural wonders are definitely never in short supply in this part of Virginia. Brownsville Preserve just east of Nassawadox. The preserve offers a round-trip hike of three miles through many of the diverse habitats protected on the preserve, counting wooded uplands, ponds, extensive salt marsh vistas and much more.  An interpretive guide to the trail is obtainable at the office and/or trailhead. An audio companion to the path can also be downloaded online. In addition, Nassawadox has hosted the annual “Between the Waters” Bike Tour every October since 1993. The event features bicycle tours of a range of lengths between the Eastern Shore's two coastal areas.
